Writing with an audience

Writing with an audience

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Adds a bit of pressure.
Eyes watching.
Judging your every word.
Still,
I must ask.
How are you supposed to judge your writing,
when your audience is a dog with flatulence?

"We are often our worse critic," is a common phrase writers hear. However, I have come across critical reviewers on the site and professionals. It is difficult to share with others because of judgement. Despite scrutiny, I have learned to appreciate constructive criticism because it helps improve the craft.

The first three stanzas begins on a serious tone; it invokes pressure. I chuckled by the time I reached the end since it takes a lighthearted and comedic response release.

Overall, writing with an audience creates "pressure" at first, but the "release" should also be fun. Writers and artists take themselves far to serious sometimes so this was a breath of fresh air. Thank you for sharing.

sincerely,

Actually, she is a picky eater. If she doesn't like it, she will let it sit there.
Never mind about added pressure, seems to me your faithful fan is pretty good at releasing same.

Just wonderful!

She does give support. I can always open the windows.
I was so sympathetic reading this, right till I got to the final line.

Then I remembered my own dogs signature scent and my sympathies doubled!

I must admit, she is my faithful fan.
Pfft, wasn't expecting that one. I know the feeling of having a farting dog.

Also, you can't judge the dog by the smell.
