Anger

Anger

A Poem by Jon Roggie

It is something I am unable to escape.
Just a natural feeling.

There are levels,
ranging from low to high.

Sorry,
I don't feel like illuminating the difference.

It comes back to a simple thing.
The anger is there.

Now,
I could just let it take me away.

Then,
I would be angry at myself.

I prefer to use the anger.
Turn it to a purpose.
Tame the fire.

This is close to what I feel. Nicely written.

I feel many of us share this. We each handle it in our own way. Thank you.

I agree. And you are welcome :)
"Anger" is an irrational emotion, but it can be used for a "purpose" as the writer has mentioned at the end. Prime examples of "taming the fire" would convert anger into poetry, prose, music, art, or another outlet. There are two categories of angry people: short fuse and long fuse. I have met those with a short fuse who are like the Hulk; they are triggered by everything. In contrast, a person with a long fuse such as myself bottles it up. This is where I become nuclear once I have the breaking point even if it was a simple conflict. I am sure you have heard this before, but this still stands true. We cannot ignore unpleasant emotions. Instead, we must confront them head on before it consumes.

Overall, everyone can relate to feeling angry. What matters is how we respond to hostility. We are imperfect creatures so "by the book" procedures are not always executed properly. However, I think you have produced something positive by putting these thoughts on the screen. It will not diffuse anger completely, but perhaps soften the blow. Thank you for sharing!

sincerely,
ria

Sometimes, it goes back to the old trick of counting to ten.
