And they do push it

And they do push it

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Do you realize how much effort it takes to be innocent?
Still, another tease.
Fine.
Pomegranate?
Each seed only lasts for awhile?

Pomegranate, I find beating the outter before cutting into it allows each morsel to fall away obediently a wee trick I learnt in Turkey. Gratification...suffering great all small is always attached. Great piece :) R xo

You can also cut off the ends of the pomegranate, and peel it. Fun little write, and I am glad you .. read more
Innocence.....does it even exist? It vanishes in a heartbeat and we don't realize how precious it actually is.

I often think we are surprised in our moments of innocence, barely recognized.
instant gratification...but we suffer for it later....

Could be :)
Pomegranate is painful to eat. Requires a lot of patience, and the reward only lasts a moment with each seed. Unless you scoop the seeds and eat the them all at once. Then it's over quickly.
Could this be a metaphor for love?

The need for coffee may be a baser emotion.
This one goes back to Persephone.
