Long drive

Long drive

A Poem by Jon Roggie

From the start,
I know how this might sound.

I am not complaining.

I just have no clue.

Nine or ten hours on the road,
and add the possibility of all of the flipping fires.

Quite simply,
I am a train wreck in slow motion.

This is what I come back to.

I am not just muttering under my breath.

I realize I can't do a damn thing.

I can only share a few words,
knowing they don't matter.

He would want me to share the words.

I watched the fires. On tv. Wow.
I'm glad you're ok.
I am sorry, Jon. And I feel like words do matter

Thank you. The saddest part is seeing no one listening.

We are. Small comfort perhaps. But we are listening.
