Coin in hand

Coin in hand

A Poem by Jon Roggie

There is a simple style for spoken word.
You are expected to perform.

The words are supposed to be an act.

You realize we are trying to talk?

Sharing each emotion.

Not a simple allusion,
distractions waiting.

This is trying to drag you in,
make you feel,
if only for a moment.

I know,
this sounds a bit hostile.

Part of feeling it.

Goes back to the coin.

Few will catch the meaning,
and it hurts to explain.

He doesn't remember the coin in his hand.
