Read it again

I am not talking about something recent,

  however,

    if it is one mine,

      go ahead.

I am talking about all of those books,

 and poems, and plays from the past.

Trust me,

  the words may have changed.

To be honest,

  it is not the words.

You have changed.

The story is still the same,

  but do you feel different?

Notice another feeling?

Life changes perspectives.

That old story may never be the same again.

Jon, you have a way of taking large, potentially unwieldy topics and boiling them do to a few precise verses.
I laughed at the blatant self promotion.
This applies to so much more than one's own writing. Reread some of the books your tackled in high school, the TV shows, movies. Amazing how experience shapes our understanding. For better or for worse.

Honestly, if you look back at all of the media from your youth, and compare it to what you think now. I was reading books at an early age, but I didn't understand certain parts. Now, I don't know if what I am seeing is what the author was trying to say. We all find our own message.
