Just a smile

Just a smile

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Shake of the head
No word in passing

There was a smile

Some might think this rude
Feeling ignored

It could have been the only way
Only way they could be polite

It wasn't time to talk

It wasn't time to share

Before you take offense
Wait

Someday there might be more than a smile

Sometimes, you don't want to talk. A simple smile of recognition, and move forward.
