They were only words

They were only words

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Is this what it comes to?
A collection of thoughts.
An attempt of sharing emotions.
All tried with innocence.
this is what it comes to
Somehow,
  those words were unacceptable.
Deemed unfit for the public.
Added to a pile,
waiting to be turned to ash.
  I smile
Do you think you have all of the copies?
There will be those who wonder,
  while watching the flames.
Why?
What was being said?
My friend,
let me show you a few words.

this reminds me of a scene in a movie where people were taking books out of the library and burning them...but really? there are many more copies...and no one can get rid of all the words...they multiply...

they exist, and will continue to...there will be copies...even though they were only words, they were and are important...

it's the legacy of the poet.
