The story has to be you

The story has to be you

A Poem by Jon Roggie

You have to give part of yourself.
You don't lose it,
but you can tell the story is yours.
There is a touch,
  and you won't forget.
The words are you.
So,
 tell a story.
Simple,
 or maybe more complex.
Tonight,
 I will go simple.
Walking through a desert ranch,
  late at night,
and there is no moon in sight.
True story,
 before I go on,
and one a friend of mine will not forget.
We hear a rattle,
and that is not something you want to hear at night.
The problem is we only heard one.
We don't know which direction the snake is.
Hoping the snake is sleeping,
  we walk forward,
     and slowly relax.
Still,
  you can't help waiting.
Wondering.
What if I took a different step?
Wasn't meant to be part of the story.

Flipping editors.....
The rattle is a warning ... most kind of the snake really. Rattlers only eat rodents:):):)If there were no more rattles and no bite, the snake was gone:)

The ones you have to watch out for are the young ones. No rattles, and no control of the venom. St.. read more

I think they just don't want to be stepped on:)
I like this true story. Very exciting, I can imagine the heart beating at that sound.
It would really freak me out.

Brought back a memory from my younger days. Trust me, we froze in place for a few minutes.
