Raising a teenager

Raising a teenager

A Poem by Jon Roggie
"

Please excuse a touch of venting.

"
How did my mom do this?
Bad enough she had to raise four boys,
but then raise one of the next generation?
Why is she having to raise a teenager,
especially when she is in her seventies?
I can give the answer,
  but I am restraining myself.
Excuse the rambling.
Anyway,
I was added to the mix.
The uncle....
I am supposed to be able to leave.
  Maybe after an hour,
     maybe in the morning.
Life lessons are meant to be said in passing.
Wonder why I grumble?
I got stuck.
Now,
  I am dredging up history.
    Then,
it is a touch of geometry.
Please don't let her take physics.
She already thinks I have the answers.
One thing I notice,
  unlike some,
    she will disagree.
So,
I have to share the past.
I wish I could have started earlier.

Raising children. I love watching my Grandchildren. They have lived often with me. Life is easy. When a person love their children. Always love to be shared. Best advice is a smile, a helping hand and kind words. I was raised-up by kind Grandparent. I liked your thoughts. Left things for the reader to think about. Thank you Jon for sharing the excellent poetry and thoughts.

I like being the uncle who they can ask anything. I will admit, it does get interesting.

Maybe too interesting. I raised four children. Key to life. Concern, listen and pay attention.
