Words from a child

Words from a child

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Let me be cynical for a moment.
They didn't listen.
The simple honesty of youth was overshadowed.
All that was seen was a child.
How could an innocent grasp the world around them?
Surely,
a few years will change their view.
A few more years of training.
Can't we let the child speak?

One of my favorite quotes seems appropriate:
“Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
― Shel Silverstein

Now that tasted like a strawberry. It was needed. Thank you, Pixie.
Some poor children never get to speak for themselves.
