Mother shared

Mother shared

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Friends can become family,
and to experience this is a special feeling.

It is a weekend for family.

I always got adopted.

It wasn't something I asked for,
and I can only think of one reason.

I would talk with the people around me,
  and more importantly,
    I would listen.

This is a simple result.

It was how I was raised.

My family would bring people into the fold.

Maybe just for a meal,
but there is something about the feeling.

I had a few friends stay with us for awhile.

Rough times,
and their families needed a hand.

They still call my mother,
    "Mom."

Sometimes,
  I just wonder.

You don't notice when you are so close.

yes, friends are so special, friends are definitely family...and i was lucky...had several moms...and especially one "second mother"

really relate to this poem...i have stronger ties with several friends than with my sibling...that is an understatement.

I think it is natural. Most bond with their friends. Thank you, sir.
Sounds like you grew up a lot like me. I am grateful, even though it wasn't always easy to share my family.
