How is she?

How is she?

A Story by Jon Roggie

Let me set the scene.
  By the way,
     all grammar,
and formats will be set aside.

Early morning,
and by chance my niece is called to a town nearby.
Part of her job,
  and she saw a chance.

She just happened to be close.

Now,
she hasn't seen her grandmother in about twelve years.
She has talked to her on the phone,
but it is not the same thing.

Anyway,
 back to the story.

Sorry,
  this is a bit disjointed.

We meet at a zoo,
and it is an odd mix.

I am not sure if they realized,
but along with the first of the next generation,
    we also had the last.
       Well, maybe.

Did I ever mention I may ramble?

The two of us hang back a bit.
  Having a quiet conversation.

"How is she?'

All I can think is how happy she is to see her granddaughter.

I love this because it feels as if you are just talking to us. It moves easily and I even like your stepping aside by-ways. This is a memory picture and captures so much about the situation...rather bittersweet, but so meaningful.

I will never be a prose poet. I just share a story.
Now, if I can make you feel the moment.. read more

You share a story well. :)
Such a clever snippet of life -- I would class this as conversational thought poetry.
