Pappa is gone

What is wrong with the world?

Christmas,

  and my friend gets the news.

Kid he helped raised is gone.

Late in the day,

  one where most of us are celebrating.

Fight breaks out,

 over what who knows.

One creature chokes him,

  while the other kicks him in the head.

He is dead.

This happened before his seven and nine year old.

I just don't understand.
