This is how I deal with it.
 
Trying not to lash out,
  and diverting all of the emotions.

Focusing on an image,
   which ever distracts me.

This description reminds me of a dog trying to meditate when there's a fly buzzing. I do agree that it's wise not to squander emotions by blasting off superfluous responses & that's why I've become a dry old biddy.
