One paycheck

One paycheck

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Somber thoughts,
  my friends

Holding on to the last one,
while looking for somewhere to go.

If it was only you,
  might be a bit easier,
but when you have a family?

Pose a situation,
and to be honest one that is real.
One an old classmate is now suffering.

House being rented,
  sold from beneath your feet,
    and you have thirty days.

A week left,
and your family is looking at the streets.

I can only watch this from a distance,
  unable to give a hand.

I wish I had some kind of solution.
