A late thanksgiving

A late thanksgiving

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Precious,
 but also bittersweet.

Yes,
   made some food,
and I must say it was tasty.

Really,
   deep-fried turkey tastes fantastic.

Yes,
  took a moment,
and talked to the extended family,
      meaning friends, and blood.

My football team even won.

So why bittersweet?

Echoes.

Each moment touched by a sense of relief.

Someone getting a chance to breath,
a break from the day to day,
or avoiding the so-called family obligation.

No matter,
   managed to help,
     and I give thanks.

It was. First half was my activities, and the rest was everyone else.
i was able to help today...and i give thanks for the chance to do that...served at the catholic newman center...800 people....
but then later, home, echoes of the day...a chance to breathe...not with family but the next best thing.

like this poem.
