Growing pains of a young immortal

Growing pains of a young immortal

A Poem by Jon Roggie

The perspective is confusing.
Time passes at the same rate,
but results are not the same.

Those younger age,
    and pass along,
while you stroll down this long road.

Childhood friends are mostly gone,
and more recent ones seem tired.

When the aged are younger than you,
   what can you say?

Learn to keep thoughts close,
  and share only a bit.

Try to not let the past overwhelm the future.

yes, there are these pains to growing older...the loss of friends, the loss of motivation, dreams shrivel like skin...
and the past does overwhlem the future, but the future does start to scare us, that insecurity of getting there.

Sometimes, I wonder. Is it the fear of the future which ages so many?
