A stop in the road

This will be a long journey,
  and many companions will pass,
    but not to be forgotten.

Now,
  and again,
    you have to stop for awhile,
       and give back.

No clue how long,
  but also no reason to rush it.

Just a stop in the road,
  until you travel along.
