Ode to the rabbit

Sad news my friends,
  the rabbit has passed.

This one never raced the tortoise,
  was merely a friend.

Lived with a brother,
   and was a companion of a dog named Jack.

I know this is a bit of a ramble,
  but even here I want to give a eulogy.

He was that kind of a rabbit,
   and I wish him well.

Not sure if this is a metaphor, real, or a combination of both, but we have all known rabbits like this one.

A bit of both. Most of us have known someone like this, pet or friend. Specifically, this was a real rabbit. Played with his buddy, and seemed to suffer from narcolepsy. He had a long life, and made an impression.
