Maybe another fable

Maybe another fable

A Poem by Jon Roggie

The story is old,
and some may not recognize it.

The message behind it should be remembered.

Wind and Sun,
   have a contest of strength,
trying to make a traveler remove his coat.

Wind blows with all of his strength,
and the traveler clutches his coat around him,
      moving on,
        ignoring the assault.

Sun shines down,
   giving warmth.

The traveler comforted by the rays from above,
    takes off his coat,
      savoring the gentle light.

I know,
  sounds too simple.

Gaining your desire,
  not through force,
    but from comfort.

How could that be possible,
  except in an old story?
