Watching the stream

Watching the stream

A Poem by Jon Roggie

An early morning,
  peaceful spot beside a stream,
     seeing what I may see.

A branch,
  momentarily caught between the stones,
changes the flow of the water.

Leaves,
   and other following debris,
     add their weight.
until the branch is finally swept away.

Some would think there is no more to this,
but the momentary change in the stream has effect.

Some beneath the surface,
   hidden in the sand.

Others along the surface,
   easily seen.

Yet the changes wait to be seen downstream.

changes in anything can be so subtle....but eventually they show up---and have a pronounced effect.

this reminded me of when i was a kid....my buddy and i would play by little streams...and i always took notice of that hinderance in the water that would revise the flow of the stream.

i really like this piece, Jon.

Time for me to move to a mountain top. It would give me time to come up with lines like these. ;)
