Hiding beneath your eyelashes

I am unsure,
  did I misunderstand?

We shared a quick glance,
  matching smiles.

I try not to stare,
  but each time,
    I have to quickly look away.

Each time I wonder,
    wondering what I will see,
         when you raise your eyelashes.
