Pebbles in the stream

Pebbles in the stream

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Contemplating the passage of time,
  I sit by the water.

The current is constant,
  as is the result.

Given time,
each stone is reduced to a pebble,
and changes into a grain of sand.

Depending on the nature of the stone,
  explains the speed of erosion.

Some will last for ages,
  even in the fastest river,
while others fall apart in a slower stream.

Time passes,
and I can't help but wonder,
    what will the waters reveal?
