A changing elemental

A changing elemental

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Flowing from form to form,
  reflecting emotions,
    resting in an ember state.

Each time,
  drawn toward the next change.

Consuming flames,
  soothing in their warmth.

Drowning wave of water,
  helping memory fade away.

Comfort of the earth around,
  giving a sense of protection.

Return to the air,
  carried along with the wind.

Each for a time,
  until the next.

For some reason I know it shouldn't but it makes me laugh. It doesn't make me laugh if I try remember seances, and their deep importance to a very great number of people

I can understand your point. I remember how Houdini's wife would attend seance each year, waiting .. read more
a poem that celebrates nature, hinting at its possibilities. i liked the contrasts here and the sense of a cycle, moving smoothly through the ether! fantastic.

Still trying to refine my words. I do like this one.
Return to the air,
carried along with the wind.

Each for a time,
until the next.

There is magic and healing in the wind and in this poem.

I like this a lot Jon! Its sometimes fun to think about what might happen after death. But nobody can truly know. That is what's so great about being a writer. There are endless possibilities. I wrote a couple of stories on the subject. Both were completely different. One was called "The Light At The End of the Tunnel" and the other was "The Gray Area". The latter one is a bit more grim than the first one. Anyway, thanks for sharing this Jon! It was an great read!

Glad you liked it. Always an interesting topic.
and after this life, we return to air, carried along the wind to another life....

each time, each time...

again you leave your poems so wonderfully open in the abstract fields of the mind.
