Just to set the mood

Just to set the mood

A Poem by Jon Roggie
"

I think I will be writing a few fire-side tales. Getting ready for Halloween.

"
The fire is burning bright?

Good.

I wonder if you noticed.
Your shadows only go away from the flames,
and the light takes away your vision,
unable to see what is in the dark.

Nothing to worry about,
   after all,
what casts a shadow from the dark?

Surely,
   nothing lurking,
waiting for the coals to grow dim.

Pausing at the edge of the light,
hungering for the moment when sleep closes your eyes.

So,
   just relax,
     only the night.
