Shelter beneath my wing

Shelter beneath my wing

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Relax,
  nothing is going to happen.

You are a mouse,
   and I am an owl.

We both know you are normally my food,
   but not tonight.

I am tired,
and am unable to take a life.

I have seen too much.

Tonight,
I will ignore my normal instincts,
     and rest.
