Just because,
  the evening is getting loud,
    seen before.

Step back,
  seeking a bit of quiet,
     finding others.

Starts with a nod,
  maybe roll of the eye,
    merely tired of the rest.

Chance comment,
  creates a conversation,
    and a new party is born.

I hate small talk, I'm terribly good at it, but I hate it. I hate most parties too.
I find it hard to have real conversations with most people I meet at social functions. So I wind up having the conversations THEY want to have.

Most parties, I am cooking. I am doing something which comes from inside. Because of that, I might as well be doing what I do here. Some move along, and some stay, and we talk for awhile.
