I remember Homer

I remember Homer

A Poem by Jon Roggie

No,
  not Groening's creation,
but I could have fun with it!

I just wonder how his words have changed.
We aren't even sure how his language sounds.

What I can remember were stories,
  dialed down as a child,
an effort as I grew older,
     but they were stories!

Think about it,
how much better would the news sound,
if only they had the ability.

"A tired leader,
his years adding to the toll,
     sits and ponders his mistakes.

Shrugs his shoulders,
  walks forth,
     and draws his people together,
       merely by words."

Now,
  I could watch that.
Might pay a bit more attention.

By the way,
no particular individual was chosen for the example,
     just playing a bit.
