Because I choose not to accept labels

Because I choose not to accept labels

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Why should I be restricted by a simple label?

Others try to say it is a choice,
and they turn it into some kind of mission.
     Turning against there fellows,
         over simple differences.

My label is me.

As far as I can go.

Otherwise,
I could not move beyond the limitations.

I could not by bypass the anger,
    the intolerance,
      the groundless preconceptions.

I would be unable to help freely.
   Be unable to talk openly.
Be unable to write a simple poem.

So,
please if you want to pass along a label,
     remember.

Mine is me.

i really like this...the only label i will accept. is that I am Me---an individual...not a stereotype---
you cannot categorize me...

because i am "me"--
