Laughing on top of the cinders

Laughing on top of the cinders

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Yes,
  I sit here smiling,
while the world burns around me.

Please.
  Don't judge.

Try and see the dark humor which brought us here.

If any of you noticed anything beyond your day to day,
you would have seen this coming,
   but you were oblivious,
noticing only what you were accustomed to.

An open mind,
  one searching,
   might have caught this.

You chose to run with a set belief,
  failing to see other options.

So,
  I laugh my bitter laugh.

Could be, but he was stuck with a lousy job. Get out of line one time!
