You have to have felt it,
  if only to share the feeling.

When you see the look in someone's eye,
  then you can relate,
    but only if you have been there.

"I know where you're coming from."

No.
   You don't.

Basing your feelings on thirty second news clips,
  and you still have no clue.

You have to be able to share a look,
  and see the recognition,
   sharing each others journeys.

This is a very tight little piece. My suggestion would be to consider changing the format to make it reflect that staccato news report feel.
