To bring a smile

Let us set aside the current tribulations,
  and remember moments from the past,
   and the future waiting.

An annoying pothole has been noticed,
  and whether filled,
    or maybe simply ignored,
      it is still behind us.

Instead,
  let me be glib,
   and hopefully,
    I can bring a smile.

Hmmm,
   I forgot to think of a joke....
