Why do I sit in darkness?

Why do I sit in darkness?

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Really,
   the answer is simple.

The same reason I wear sunglasses at night.

I watched for too long,
  while trying to learn,
even when I should have turned away.

Damage was done,
  and I have no complaints.

Part of the cost.

When you stare at creation,
your eyes quit adjusting to the glare.

sometimes we need to just accept what is...if we stare too long trying to comprehend, trying to figure it all out...our mind gets burnt...damaged...better to just believe.

Interesting! You make it sound as if you wish to observe something naturally created, you must give up something of yourself. The sun it beautiful and full of mystery, but look too long and it will steal your sight away. Well done :)

Now, I have to take a bow. You nailed it! Creation observed, or participated, takes a bit of you. .. read more
