Icarus

Icarus

A Poem by Jon Roggie

To fly so high,
  a moment of pride,
    only to die.

Have you heard this one?
   Been around for awhile.

To escape,
  only to go too close,
   melting the wax,
     feathers drifting,
      while you fall.

How many times do we see this?

Pride does not give invulnerability.
   Mistakes will cost,
and lead to the inevitable fall.
