Because I try to understand

Because I try to understand

A Poem by Jon Roggie

That is where the problem starts.

I try,
   and I can't see it.

I see the beliefs,
and start to work my mind around them,
    but those supposedly following them.....

I was raised a Protestant,
probably might be considered a Buddhist at this point,
   I don't really know.

I live by a simple code,
do not seek to cause harm,
and try to help those in need.

Simple,
  but challenging.

So many,
distort the lessons they claim to have learned from.

You see it across the world,
  unrestrained hatred,
    spread across so many beliefs.

So many strayed away,
still claiming to follow the truth,
   stepping upon the original ideals.

Author's Note

Jon Roggie
This is my simple way of saying it is not just one group. Across the world certain groups, religious, political, and however else they can be classified, disgrace the beliefs they supposedly follow.
