Tossing coins into the fountain

Each one is a wish,
  hoping to change the past.

Every coin a memory,
  one hopefully erased.

Another regret,
  and this is the only way to try,
    try to change it.

Coin after coin,
  if only one wish will come true.

I always remember one fountain. One in Germany, which was based on the tale of the cobbler and the elves. I tossed a few in there.

But, I had to come home... So it was short loved.
