Starting early

Starting early

A Poem by Jon Roggie

What does a few hours matter?
The results will be the same.

Another slow path of destruction.

No,
I am not speaking of drink,
or any of the shadier companions.

I am talking about here.

Yes,
  this is a vice,
    and it takes a toll.

Losing yourself in words,
  and it drains the soul.

Each word a reminder,
each with a price to pay.

One I will not refuse.

Ah, I understand this as well. Using the writes as an escape from the real. A healthy outlet, as opposed to say, drinking, but not necessarily harmless. (She says as she delays starting work to play on the cafe'):)

Sometimes, the words take control. You can't ignore them. So, I keep feeding the habit!
