Why not go for the laugh?

Why not go for the laugh?

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Who listens to the jester?
  They remember the jokes,
     and often repeat them.

The words are light.
   Nothing to burden the mind.

Walking in the court,
   spinning a tale.
Ideals hidden beneath the pretense of humor.

Words repeated,
  while the jester scampers away.

the pretense of humor...."see the funny little clown laughing as you walk by...no one knows he's crying, no one knows he's dying on the inside, but he's laughing on the outside..." (bobby Goldsboro)

a really sad write...but beautiful.
