Scientific, spiritual, and senseless

Scientific, spiritual, and senseless

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Does that do it?
I think I covered all the bases.

Sorry.
  No more sports' references.
     Maybe.

Everything can be explained.
Most often the method behind the explanation.
    Usually, an indication of beliefs.

Each creating a different possibility,
  waiting for a new explanation.

Like a game of pinball.
The experienced player knows the reactions of the game,
and may try to force it.
       All the time,
         avoiding a tilt.

Was that clear enough?

Wait a second.
  Is pinball considered a sport?

Pinball is sport, sure...
You gotta know just how hard or soft to bump it to avoid the penalty.
Precision...

Yeah! Perfect!
I think that you have used a pinball metaphor to express the nature of Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem, the “tilt” switch. It was fun to read. All scientific knowledge is tentative.
