Paco

Paco

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Yes,
  Paco.

I see you!

Let me rub your ears!

Sorry,
  no treats today.

   ---------------

Now,
let me step back a bit.

 -----------------

I guess this should be a story,
  and it is,
but I think you can hear my voice.

 ------------------

Paco is a rescue story.

One of either luck, or fate.

Neighbor going to the store,
  riding a bike,
   and she notices a sign.

Free Puppies.

She never had a puppy.

Finds the place.

Squalid.

Brings back Paco,
  newly named.

Maybe weighs a pound,
  trembling.

Now,
  bit of love,
ready to take on the delivery guy.
