The world is an echo.

The world is an echo.

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Silence,
  moment of clarity,
  and absence.

Time so still,
  drops drift through the air.

Starting to feel the ringing,
   becoming louder.

Numbness passes.

Chaos crashes,
  emotions and sights overwhelm.

Now,
  I start to hear again.

It all comes back to me,
  not just now,
  but the rest.

Screams and cries,
 so familiar.

Once again,
  comes around.

Sounds of all the pain,
  so familiar.

Way of the world.

The world is an echo.

Thank you! I seem to need to draw from emotions. Not always the most pleasant of experiences.
This is one of your best! Very moving and relatable to many things and specific things. My favorite stanza is "It all comes back to me, not just now, but the rest." Wow!

Glad you enjoyed. Words came easy, but the scene is still a bit painful.
