I am the shield.
I am the one who takes the abuse,
the abuse aimed at you.

All of your mistakes,
true or untrue,
are brought to me.

Good friend saw it.

He could see the anger.

Simple words,
humor mixed with wisdom.

Trying to shield me,
to give a chance.

Just with a quick laugh,
chance to set aside my anger.
