Scars

Scars

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Time in the sun,
  they start to show.

Change in hue,
something you are unable to hide.

Years leave their mark.

Many come from the job,
playing with the blade and the fire.

Those came years ago.

Left  a mark,
  healed.

So many I try not to show.

Influence my actions.

Change my choices.

Nothing that was done to me,
  still I did see.

Each time,
  another scar added,
  another wound to heal.

Not to say it was not worth it.

Another opportunity.

Another chance.

Another smile,
  helps with the pain.

Beautiful and transcendent, so many we times we hurt for the things we can not say, can not change, because fate would have it that way but they all leave scars to heal, and smiles to help if one can remember them.
