Do you remember?

Do you remember?

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Do you remember?
  We met as kids,
chasing each other on the playground.

Can you see it?
How we looked at each other after that first kiss?
Eyes wide open, afraid to be the one to say anything first?

Smell those?
That's right.  Same kind of flowers.
Same as from our first date.

Do you feel it?
  My fingers stroking your hair,
just like they have done for so many years.

I'm sorry.

Is it that time again already?

I'll be back in the morning.

Sleep well my love.

Heavy on innuendos, this has the nostalgia one would expect but with an ending left open to speculation. The style is very good and the sensitivity colors each word. Nice job.

Awhhh...I wasn't expecting this. You say so much in this brief poem. It falls like a curtain. I like your work.
