Balancing Act

Balancing Act

A Poem by Diana Wolf (Jacqueline Stone)

Life can’t be all fun and games

But all work and no play makes Jack go insane

Life is a balancing act

Finding peace past the suffering

Finding joy past the pain

It’s the rainbow at the end of a heavy rain

It’s great to do what you love

But when it becomes routine and mundane is when the fulfillment ends

Suddenly it becomes a dragging, draining chore taking your life from you

That’s when you can add something new or see if you can switch what you’re doing

To balance out again

Extremes make it impossible to move

And doing nothing helps no one

Letting fate decide leaves her with all the hard work

And glumly staring at a wall, leaves you staring at a wall

Equally they get you nowhere

Finding your middle ground,

Your home,

Your center,

Your core

Gives you a base to jump from

And return to

To explore

And bring back your treasure

To share with others

Or keep for your self

The balance is what keeps us whole
