Blessed Be

Blessed Be

A Poem by Jason Again
"

It's all about kindness. The person who is speaking finds it hard to be able to walk away without being kind.

"
I look to my left,
I see a man.
I see a man who is not scary,
Yet somehow I can not trust him.
He looks down to me,
And he says 'Blessed be.'
I feel my eyes squint a little,
As I try to reason why he speaks.
I'd never met a man,
Who simply spoke without a trace.
His words were kind,
His tone was gentle.
Yet something wasn't trustworthy.
His beard reminded me of an old family friend.
His coat reminded me of an old friend from school.
This man had everything I trusted.
This man was not to be trusted today.
'What is it?' I asked myself,
As I slowly started to turn.
I want to walk away,
I can not walk away.
I look back to this man.
'Blessed be, to you as well.'
I'd been kind back.
With a smile, the man took his eyes away from mine,
Turned back towards the alley from which he came,
And was out of my sight,
Never to be heard from again.
