Drink Consumes all

Drink Consumes all

A Poem by Justin Carr

A Man Went In
A Boy Came Out

Mentally Altered
Changed Beyond A Doubt

His Face Once Strong
Now Hides With A Shout

For The Drink Consumes All
And Few It Spits Back Out

Memories Shattered
Friends Begone

Harshened Melodies
Ever Lasting Dawns

In Dangers Face
The Boy Quickly Pales

In The Dim Little Room
Where He Downs His Ale

I really like this. It gives the reader a sense of what it is like to be that person. Good format, it flows nicely though every word being capitalized is a bit distracting. Other than that I think it is lovely.

Very wonderful read. Alcohol can be a real b***h sometimes especially when alters one's personality, anywho great job.

Excellent write. It was alluring and haunting all at once, but the message reached out and gripped on to me. It was surreal! I look forward to reading more of your work.

This is wonderful. Such an honest view on how alcohol can change a person. It can show who we truly are underneath, from the shell of a man to the flesh of a boy. Great write!

Hm, interesting write here! And it's true, alcohol does change people, both mentally and physically. Scary, but too true. I know some close friends of mine who happen to be alcoholics, some who used to be and have turned past it to get a new and better grip on themselves. Me, I fancy a drink every now and again, but it doesn't 'own me' how it would own some. Drinking has its benefits, but like everything else around us, it happens to have its certain limitations about it also that we must consider. Great write with a powerful message!
