Nighttime over the River ThamesA Poem by J SchwenkThe beautiful city lights sparkle like jewels in the night sky.
Chilly
The air is cold A blanket of blackness covered the sky Soft gray patterns embroidered the canvas Looking down on the river Thames A small cathedral stood on the left The city of London on the right Thames in the center Boats floating on the surface People taking a stroll in the chilly February evening Lights decorated the scene The area is quiet So quiet You can hear pebbles shuffling under your feet As you walk on the cobbley pavement The rich, cold air smells fresh It wakens you up Feels lively It’s nighttime Can’t fall asleep Wonder what the next weeks will bring Hopefully adventure My nose felt cold The chilly, crisp air Cigarette butts littered the pavement Destroying the picturesque world sitting on Top of Richmond Hill Trying to feel calm Falling asleep As the city lights twinkled On the black canvas over the River Thames. © 2015 J Schwenk |
