Chaotic Mind

Chaotic Mind

A Poem by J Schwenk
"

Our mind tells us things we shouldn't believe. The state of mind.

"

Staring in one spot

Thoughts strung together

On a seam

Focused

Looked at the clock

Glanced away

Cars rushing by

People walking

Lights shimmered on the street

Sitting in one spot

Thinking

Someone´s talking to me

I didn´t hear

Focused on my thoughts

The smell of cigarettes polluted the air

I glanced away

Someone´s calling my name

I´m in my own world

Caught up in my mind

Suddenly, I shifted my attention

To the world around me

I didn´t want to be there

I wanted to be back in my mind again

I felt in the moment when I was thinking

Trying to figure out what to do

I want to be done

So I can backpack around the world

To see the beautiful world

So I can know myself more

To be on my own

In the warm weather

The sun

To do yoga and dance

Meet new people

To breathe

And take it easy

Breathe deeply

To do what I love

To eat pure

To be good to myself

To run, dance

Get out of my mind

Live simply

Burn things on fire

Watch the flames

Disappearing

I looked at the clock

An hour passed

I felt chilly

The smell of cigarettes lingered in the London air

Slowly evaporating

I got off the rail

And went inside.
